A plan shaped by and for our community

Starting in 2023, our district began working with school construction experts at ICS to complete comprehensive assessments of our school district. The goal of this work was to understand our buildings’ strengths and areas of improvement by hearing directly from those who rely on our buildings the most.

This long-range planning process included:

Educational Adequacy Assessment

This grid shows the results of the educational adequacy assessment. It revealed that there are spaces across all three of our current buildings that do not meet today’s standards for student education.

What other factors did the school board consider when developing the plan?

After hearing directly from teachers and staff, coaches, parents and students, and community members, the school board recognized that maintaining three buildings for our relatively small student population was not effective at maximizing our district’s budget, resources, and staff capabilities. However, transitioning to a two-school model would be impossible without ensuring the remaining two buildings could serve more students.

The board was tasked with developing a plan that would not only address our district’s inefficiencies and building needs, but also fit within our district’s limits on debt based on the state’s legislation for school districts. This meant that essential needs like safety and security improvements, adequately sized classrooms, and essential maintenance for roofs, windows, and walls needed to be prioritized.

If approved, the plan will be paid for with a tax increase on property within our school district.
